Lorraine Warren Costume
The Conjuring franchise is one of my favorites. I don’t like horror and somehow these have me in an absolute chokehold. I think it is the true love. Also the whole undercurrent of Catholicism being able to defeat evil thing (recovering from Catholic guilt over here, anyone else?)
Anyway! We love this couple, we had a blast dressing up as them, but it was a bit of a puzzle. For all of those wondering how we did it, here we go.
This costume blew up on TikTok. I understand why. True love, right? An epic, loving, married couple that supports each other. An inspiring thing. The links used below our affiliated with Amazon.
Anyway, here we go:
The Shirt: I could not find it anywhere. Maybe with the success of the TikTok a nice knockoff will be available soon, but here are the supplies I used to get the iconic look.
The Shirt - get the white one. trust the process. (similar options:
The Dye - this sounds scarier than it was. The steps were clear on the bottle. For materials, I just used my stock pot, my oldest wooden spoon, and a digital meat thermometer to make sure the temp stayed high enough. Make sure you get the polyester dye. The color I used was “sapphire blue.”
The Starch - collars don’t stand up like that without some help. After steaming and ironing the dyed shirt, I laid it on the floor, arranged the collar to be as similar to the original costume as possible, and sprayed it. It held up well all night. Again, following the directions on the bottle.
The Skirt: This was easier to find. I got it in the pattern “ “
The Vest: equally hard to find as the shirt. After many, many vests returned, this one proved to be my favorite.
Accessories: its the details that really pull this costume together.
